Lance Jackson, B.F.A. Washington University in St. Louis, has worked as an artist/designer for over twenty years at the San Francisco Chronicle,The San Francisco Examiner and other print publications. He participated in the early growth of digital art and design in print publishing. A partial commercial client list includes Adobe Systems, Apple, Cisco Systems, Bell South, Dominican College of San Rafael, MacWorld Expo, Oracle, Sports Illustrated, Red Bull, Time Magazine, The Washington Post and Yale University.

Jackson participated in the 2004 "Hearts in San Francisco" project for the San Francisco General Hospital Foundation. His “PCR” Heart is currently somewhere in the Sea Cliff neighborhood of San Francisco. Jackson presented his journalist portraiture/caricature work at the Oakland Museum in 2006. His anti-drug image was included in the 2023 de Young Museum Open. Examples of his work are at Mills College, Alameda Arts Commission, Arnold Schwarzenegger Archives and other private art collections.

He has held memberships in the American Institute of Graphic Arts, the Society of Newspaper Design and Siggraph. While working in journalism he received numerous design and illustration awards from the Society of Newspaper Design and Communication Arts.

He is an adjunct professor at UC Berkeley Extension and the California College of the Arts. He taught at City College of San Francisco.
